Jimmy Iovine is a trailblazer in the music industry and a committed philanthropist. He has successfully channeled his innovative vision into education, focusing on integrating arts, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Jimmy began his remarkable career as a recording engineer at the renowned Record Plant studio. He became a pioneering music producer and executive, collaborating with icons such as Bruce Springsteen, U2, and John Lennon. In 1990, he co-founded Interscope Records, where he met Andre “Dr. Dre” Young. Together, they launched Beats Electronics (Beats by Dre), which Apple acquired in 2014. In 2022, Jimmy was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In 2024, he became an investor in the canned cocktail Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop.

USC Iovine and Young Academy was established in 2013 thanks to a $70 million endowment from Jimmy and his long-time collaborator, Dr. Dre. It was conceived to bridge the gap in traditional education systems that often silo creativity and technical skills. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs emphasizing design thinking, business models, and the application of new technologies – all equipping students with the skills needed for success in the rapidly changing global marketplace.

Expanding their commitment to transforming education, Jimmy and Dr. Dre co-founded the IYC. The IYC reimagines the high school experience and empowers students to maximize their academic and creative potential. The first IYC location opened in Los Angeles in 2022, and a second location opened at Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta in 2024.
