He is also the Chairman of the Board at Option3, a cybersecurity company. Mark has served as a trustee of Sacred Heart University and was recognized with an Honorary Doctorate for his outstanding achievements in both business and the community. He also serves as a Director of the UConn Foundation and is a member of its Leadership Cabinet. UConn honored Mark by dedicating and naming the ice forum after him, the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.
