Peter Malmstrom’s Biography

Peter Malmstrom is Co-Founder of Quantum Group, a diverse group of companies with interests in fintech, security, intelligence and media.

Peter serves as a director at several of Quantum’s portfolio companies, including Valkyrie, the security consultancy he co-founded in 2009 with his business partner, Floyd Woodrow MBE DCM. Valkyrie provides high-level cyber and physical security solutions tailored to HNWIs, family offices and the corporate sector. Quantum recently expanded its cyber security portfolio with the acquisition of Forensic Control.

Quantum also includes two FCA-regulated companies: Verve, a cashback and rewards app, and Volopa, a platform that aims to simplify global FX payments and expenses, and offers multicurrency Mastercard solutions.

Malmstrom is also Managing Director of Vantage, a media and design company within the Group. Vantage publishes Tempus Magazine, for which Peter regularly contributes lifestyle, shooting and motoring reviews.

After leaving school, Peter turned down a place at university to travel. He joined West Coast Airlines and qualified as a loadmaster, travelling to sensitive and conflict-ridden parts of the world, overseeing the delivery of relief aid and specialist cargo.

His 30 years of experience within the security sector began during a period of time in the military, including 21 Special Air Service (not badged) and was also attached to the Parachute Regiment, before joining Spectrum Special Projects.

Peter also trained as a foreign currency trader and a commodity futures broker. While working in the City of London, he successfully developed trading algorithms and pioneered deliverable foreign exchange platforms.

Whilst working at West Coast Airlines, Peter qualified as a loadmaster and was responsible for loading, securing, and overseeing cargo on Boeing 707 and Douglas DC8 aircraft to ensure safe and efficient transport. Between 1985 and 1988 he delivered international aid and specialist cargo to some of the most dangerous parts of the world at that time.
