Timur’s Biography

Timur Tillyaev is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and international investor. He is the Co-Founder of the You Are Not Alone Foundation as well as the Founder of Abu Saxiy, one of the most successful commercial markets in Uzbekistan. Timur divides his time between the United States, Switzerland and France.

The businessman and sustainable investor’s diverse industry expertise spans multiple sectors, including real estate, renewable energy and health tech. He writes extensively about long-term sustainability goals and energy, sharing his expertise with international publications.

In 2006, Timur conceived Abu Saxiy, which soon grew from a lot holding 680 empty shipping containers to a vibrant wholesale market that has become a key part of Tashkent’s economy. Abu Saxiy houses almost 3,000 stalls, employing close to 5,000 people. He sold the commercial centre in 2017.

A dedicated philanthropist, Timur helped launch the You Are Not Alone Foundation alongside his wife, Lola Tillyaeva (Till), in 2002. Under its direction, numerous orphanages have been built and renovated and it has brought leading medical experts to the country.

Timur sits on the Board of the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and helped establish the National Centre for the Social Adaptation of Children in Uzbekistan, a charity which offers medical and educational support to disabled children.

Branching out into film in 2017, Timur and Lola produced the award-winning documentary film ‘The Man Who Unlocked the Universe’ which explores the life of former Uzbek ruler and astronomer Ulugh Beg.
