The Group 1 £1-million Sussex Stakes, run over a mile at Goodwood on August 2, is the target for both the leading Cartier Older Horse, Godolphin’s Ribchester (86), and Churchill (80). Daphne’s, the much-loved Italian restaurant in the heart of Chelsea, is set to host an evening of fine dining that will celebrate the wonderful world of horse-racing. The one-off event will begin with a champagne reception, allowing diners to mingle with the night’s guests of honour. These will include some of the equestrian world’s best-known figures, such as Britain’s most decorated female jockey, Hayley Turner OBE, alongside Harry Herbert of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and the eminent racehorse trainer Andrew Balding of Park House Stables, Highclere.
